New Year's Eve

Who else would we rather spend New Year's Eve with than our favorite little guy...Porter!  Love him!  We love spending time with him and enjoy his little giggles.  Love these pictures of Lil' Port and Grandpa playing ball!

Ah...The Day After Christmas

I love the day after Christmas.  It's always a day that we just spend together as a family.  We play games, watch movies, eat delicious food and try out some of our new Christmas gadgets.  Today, we even made homemade ice-cream.  We were pretty excited when it started snowing this afternoon.  Porter couldn't wait to get outside with his dad, Uncle Bailey and Grandpa and push a little snow...the farmer way.  (You'll notice that our sidewalks usually remain a little snow packed...you can't push off that snow with a tractor!)  And Jordan and Bailey couldn't wait to hit the 9:00 PM chicken for half price at Riverside Corner...wearing their PJs and camo!

Every Who Down in Whoville

This year's ward Christmas party was amazing.  The theme for the night was Christmas in Whoville.  We all enjoyed a yummy dinner...including "rare Who roast beast."  After dinner, we had a play presented by several members of our ward.  What talent!  Following the program, we were able to pick an angel off the angel tree...helping us focus on service to start out the Christmas season.  What a fabulous night.  We truly felt the spirit.  We have a great ward!

Thanksgiving...Brent's Favorite!

We love Thanksgiving Day!  We have been so blessed and continue to be.  Each day of our lives we are provided with so many blessings...of which one of the greatest is our family.  What a blessing each of our children is in our lives.  What a blessing it is to have amazing aunts, cousins, uncles and grandparents.  Family is truly one of God's greatest gifts to us.

Today we enjoyed our Thanksgiving Dinner with Brent's family.  We ate, played games, and crafted.  Later on, Mom, Curtis, Todd and Aileen and their family came up to our house and we enjoyed pie and ice cream with them.  And...oh, ya...an indoor snowball fight!

Love This Little Boy!

Can't say how much we love being grandparents!  We were able to get away over fall break and fly up to Nova Scotia to spend time with Jessica, Jordan and Porter.  It was wonderful to spend some time with them.  We had a great time!  Sure wish they lived closer!

And...The Countdown is On

Brent got an email this morning from "ldschurch.org."  When we opened it up, we discovered it was a copy of Elder Shaffer's flight plans home!  He flies out on Saturday, June 16th and heads to Morocco (that's in North Africa).  From Morocco, he flies to New York...SLEEPS THERE...and then flies home bright and early on Father's Day.  He'll land in Salt Lake at 10:25 AM!  We can't wait!

Happy Easter!

We love our Savior, Jesus Christ!  We know that we can ask the Savior to help us overcome our mistakes.  We know we can always call on Him to help us...no matter the time, no matter the need.  It's our daily goal to strive to become more like Him.  One of our favorite apostles, Joseph B. Wirthlin, said, "I testify to you this day that the time will come when every man, woman, and child will look into the Savior's loving eyes. On that day, we will know with a surety the worth of our decision to straightway follow Him."

It's our hope that we will all remember how Jesus lived, His great atoning sacrifice and His resurrection.  We know that He lives!  Take a look at this short video.  It helps us remember just a few of the things that Jesus Christ did for each one of us.

Shaffer Family Hunger Games

Grandma and Grandpa Shaffer have always gone the extra mile to make Easter celebrations especially fun for all of us.  Over the years, they've planned amazing egg hunts.  This year, they decided to have the family Easter party while Jessica and Porter were here.  Months ago they made everyone in the family a marshmallow gun and saved them for the Easter party.  After dinner, everyone went outside and quickly went to war...every man for himself...survival of the fittest...or survival of the fastest...or the youngest...or the most in shape!

Note:  On Monday morning, Brent could barely walk!  Keeping up with the nephews and nieces about did him in!

Fun with Pinterest

Seriously...some things are a waste of time...like Facebook and pinterest!  But, we've all discovered that Pinterest is a great place to get ideas.  Brent and I were looking for pictures of different kinds of chicken coops for him to build for our new baby chicks and we came across an idea for deviled eggs...made to look like baby chicks.  So, for the Shaffer Family Easter Party, the girls and I made a plateful to take along.  They turned out so cute!

Love These Two!

We have been so blessed to have Whitney and Jessica in our lives!  We always have such a great time together and love being with each other.  We spent the day at the new City Creek Center in Salt Lake today.  Fabulous shopping in a beautiful setting, for sure!  I do believe it will become one of our favorite places to shop in the years to come.  Spending time with these two is the best...we sure do love them!

Soccer Weather

We made plans to take Jessica and Whitney down to watch David play soccer.  Everyone picked me up after work and we headed down to Herriman.  David plays on the high school team.  Herriman's a beautiful new high school with an amazing field...turf!  Although Dave's team didn't have their best game, it was fun to watch him play.  It was FREEZING cold, but Porter was a good sport through the game.  After the game, we all went over to Matt and Gail's for some yummy sweet pork burritos. It's always lots of fun to spend time with the Robinsons.  I've got a wonderful sister...just saying!

Lovin' the Missionary Life!

Oh...do we ever love Mondays!  And, no, it's not because we get to go back to work after a great weekend...it's because it's the day we get emails from Bailey!  The power and internet access in Africa haven't always been the most reliable, so whenever we get pictures of Elder Shaffer, we're pretty excited.  Here are a couple that came today!

Left to Right:  Elder Ramananjanahary (Bailey's companion), Elder Shaffer, Elder Kabongo and Elder Barker

Spoiled...but Definitely Not Rotten

We had to run some errands in Logan today.  Brent thought that Porter needed a cool walker, so we looked at a few different ones at Wal-mart.  You know, I think he chose the perfect one!  Who doesn't love Lightning McQueen and Mater?  Porter can't reach the floor yet, but loved hanging out and "driving" his walker.
